A Community Interest Company, or CIC for short, are social enterprises (businesses that are set up to change the world, although we are simply starting with Bishampton) who want to use their profits and assets for public good. The government has put special features in place to ensure that CICs are working for the benefit of the community.

Community is a word used constantly in this process, but what/who is it actually referring too? The Government states a community can embrace either the population as a whole or a definable sector or group of people either in the UK or elsewhere. For The Dolphin CIC the community is the residents of Bishampton and the surrounding areas, although we would love to encourage people from all over to come visit The Dolphin.

As the Government states the focus of a Community Interest Company is to serve and we aim to serve the village with a pub that is the social hub for the community
